Facebook is now saying that “approximately 126 million people may have been served one of their stories”, referring to Russian government backed adds, between 2015 and 2017 in the past two years. Facebook has shut down these accounts, however is still unsure how this happened. This article is very pertinent in todays age of “fake news”. Misinformation is extremely relevant and can be quite harmful, and I believe this article is a good example of that.

In addition to not knowing what the real number actually was, it is also troubling because this is only what was found Facebook. The power of misleading ads can bleed over into other sites too such as Twitter or Instagram. Also, it doesn’t have to be election-based.
